Subject: Lionstrong, who is the world? |
Bible Note: Greetings Lionstrong! That was a quick answer, in more than one way! :-) From my perspective, the mistake you are making is in confusing salvation with atonement. The atonement is an objective fact. He died for all. Salvation is a gift, which must be received (subjective). Those who do not receive the gift are not saved, even though their sins have been atoned for. This is also illustrated in 2 Cor. 5:19, where it says that God was reconciling (objective) the world to Himself through Christ. Yet, v. 20 commands us to be reconciled (subjective) to God. Thus, those of us who believe in an unlimited atonement do not believe that all will be saved. We simply believe that the unlimited atonement is what Scripture teaches (1 Jn. 2:2 among many others). Have a blessed day my friend! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
