Bible Question:
Greetings Rowdy! I have addressed your specific questions several times, in posts, 120336, 120371, and 120402. :-) Now, how about an answer to my question? Are we saved or are we hoping to be saved? Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
Bible Answer: You are saved IF you continue in faith. That's why Jesus said, "He that endures to the end shall be saved (Matthew 10:22)." You are saved (or delivered) from the bondage of sin if you accept Jesus as Savior. Then He empowers you via Holy Ghost to maintain salvation but you have to choose to continue in faith. Then when you die, if you have kept the faith, you will be saved from eternal damnation (or eternal separation from God). Colossians 1:22-23 says, "In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel. . ." It's not that we hope to be saved, but we were given salvation because we believe (accepted, have faith, trust) and we have a responsibility to maintain it and God has provided everything we need in that of Jesus Christ.
