AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace [God's remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; |
Subject: From whom does faith originate? |
Bible Note: Greetings John! I have read through all of that which you have specified, and I do not see any contradiction to the Scripture verses that you have pointed out and the Biblical doctrine of free will. I strongly disagree with a doctrine that does not agree that there is no volition on the behalf of a believer concerning salvation. That flies in the teeth of sound interpretation. God in His sovereignty knows already who will and who will not be saved, and this is a topic that only serves to grieve the Holy Spirit by arguing about it hours or days upon end.. I'm sorry, my brother in Christ, but I have fought this battle before. I cannot and will not change my view to the "Reformed" view. Verses like 1 John 2:2 are crystal clear to me, and they need no explanation according to my view. What I find the most "disturbing" is how we got off track so quickly! Wasn't the original thrust of this thread talking about "faith"? If so, then we have regretfully changed the subject here to something entirely different. - Makarios |
