AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace [God's remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. Subject: From whom does faith originate? |
Bible Note: Greetings John! Excellent post describing faith! However, when a person hears the Gospel for the first time, and if the result is faith in the Gospel (Romans 10:17), then we must not forget the role of the Holy Spirit in salvation. After we first hear the Gospel and believe it based upon faith (because faith comes from hearing the Gospel), then we are at once convicted by the Holy Spirit (John 16:8-11) since we at once hear the truth of the Gospel in a clear light ("clear" even in the wake of an unsaved world), so that it is acknowledged as Truth, whether or not Christ is received as Savior. And once we believe and are convicted, then we must repent! (Acts 3:19) We must acknowledge to God that we, in fact, see sin in the same way that He does. However, it is possible to resist the Holy Spirit and it is possible not to repent (Acts 7:51) after first seeing "clearly" the Truth in its glorious presentation with the Lord Jesus Christ. However, if we do repent, acknowledging that we, in fact, do see sin in the same way that God does, then we must confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9,13), and the unregenerate person who was spoken of at the beginning of this post is now saved!! They are forever justified before God because of their sins, and they shall be forever with the Lord. Blessings to you, Makarios |
