Subject: What if willfully return to a sinning li |
Bible Note: EdB - Happy new year to you! Hebrews 6:4-6 indeed offers profound, though frequently misunderstood, insight into the matter of 'What if I willfully go back into sin?' Charles Spurgeon offers keen insight into the passage. I recommend his fine expository sermon called "Final Perseverance" at www.spurgeon.org/sermons/0075.htm ..... So much has been written, much of it in error, about this difficult passage, Hebrews 6:4-6. Spurgeon does more than few other interpreters have done to explain this difficult passage in a way that not only makes sense but does no harm to other passages of Scripture, many of which have already been cited on this thread, that support the doctrine of the final perseverance of the saints, i.e., of the eternal security of the believer. --Hank |
