Bible Note: Dear geevee, God gives to each one of us according to His will. Our calling is to be content no matter what station of life God has placed us in. Deut 18 is addressed to OT nation of Israel not to the NT church. It concerns their reception of the promised land. The Promised land is a foreshadow of the NT Kingdom of God. Jesus said Matt 6:19-21 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." The thing that troubles me is the excitement generated in some churches over the aquisition of money and material wealth. You would think that God wants all christians to be rolling in dough! It's very sad. "...and give us this day out daily bread". This is what Jesus told us to pray for. The Lord blesses some with wealth and I have no problem with that. It's our heart's attitude that matters. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God... John |
