Subject: what's the name it claim it theory? |
Bible Note: Hi Brother John :) You’re pulling me in. You’re pulling me in. LOL I thought we had parted company on this particular subject. :) But alas… I’m sitting here smiling as I read your post, then I begin to type… I apologize if I left the impression that I believe that Abba Father will give us something that is not in His will. I believe what 1 John 5:13-15 says: I write this to you who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) the name of the Son of God [in the peculiar services and blessings conferred by Him on men], so that you may know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that you [already] have life, yes, eternal life. And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us. And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him. Thus when Jesus said "For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].” Mark 11:24, I believe that the asking in this verse has to be in accordance with Father’s will. Also, James tells us about asking amiss that we may consume it upon our lusts (4:3). So when we ask, we have to ask properly (in accordance with His will). I agree with you. I do not believe that God would give us something that would cause us harm. Is it scriptural for me to pray for a Rolls Royce or a Mansion in Malibu? I believe that if you 1. Delight thyself also in the LORD: 2. Then… he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Ps 37:4 Now, I understand that Ps 37:4 says nothing about praying but… if you desire Rolls Royce or a Mansion in Malibu and you have delighted yourself in the Lord, I believe you will get it(them). But ONLY IF you have delighted yourself in Him. LOL on believing God for a goose that lays golden eggs. No need to apologize for the sarcasm. Believe it or not, I understand the passion you seem to have. You said: The bible clearly warns us about the dangers that riches pose. 1 Tim 6:9 "But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. Is it the riches themselves that pose the dangers or the WANTING to get rich? The reason I ask this is because later in that same chapter (v17,18), those who are rich are commanded to: 1. not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain 2. put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 3. do good 4. be rich in good deeds 5. be generous and willing to share. In order that they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. Another reason I ask the question is because Psalm 112 talks about the man that fears the LORD and delights greatly in his commandments. One of the things said about this man is ‘Wealth and riches shall be in his house’. I recognize that the Psalms also have warnings about riches/wealth and maybe we can study that out later :) And if I may, I will agree with you for ‘God to bless you financially according to His will’. OK :), that’s it for me… Abba Father Bless you always…. Meredith |
