Subject: sheila, why pray for a lesser gift? |
Bible Note: prazn, it is out of a spirit of love that I correct the misuse of Scripture, no matter the topic. Yes, there is a necessity or usefulness of speaking in tongues. It is for when unbelievers who do not know the language of the area. Then there is a need to speak to them in their native language. There were few schools where one could learn a foriegn language. Then, so the rest of the church could understand, there was need for interpetation (1 Cor 14:22-28). We should not look down on the person with any gift (1 Cor 12:12-26). Nor should one elevate a gift (1 Cor 12:27-31) ... an error by some of those who push tongues. The Apostle Paul spoke in many different tongues ... I'd say each town he went to, where they spoke a different language. Searcher |
