Subject: "Women being silent" |
Bible Note: Dear Yedida, This may be an over generalization, but it seems to me that women think more lucidly (both deductively, intuitively, and creatively), feel more genuinely, relate more naturally, articulate more fully, respond to the conscience more readily, minister to others more freely, etc. In view of the various virtues of value to the believer, women are far more apt than are men. I do not mean to say that women do not have issues unique to their gender, what I'm talking about is simple aptitude. Nonetheless, our Lord has not based our various roles on aptitude. Frankly, that has confused me since becoming a Christian. How am I to love and lead my wife the way Christ loves and leads the church, when I am so frequently fallible and naturally inept? Wives have the same difficulty, often, in reverse. None of it is possible outside of the Gospel. We must be men and women transformed by the Gospel and being transformed by the Gospel. That which comes most naturally and seems so right to us is rarely consistent with God's eternal purpose. Usually, quite the contrary. Praise God that He not only changes us, but equips us for that which He calls us to do. Just some thoughts on the topic. In Him, Doc |
