AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 5:21 He made Christ who knew no sin to [judicially] be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we would become the righteousness of God [that is, we would be made acceptable to Him and placed in a right relationship with Him by His gracious lovingkindness]. |
Bible Question:
I understand that Jesus took our sins upon Himself and paid the price to redeem us. What I do not understand, is HOW those sins were taken up by Him, HOW those sins were crucified with Him, and HOW He was made sin in our place. I don't expect that scripture explains the details of this mystery, but I am interested to know how to explain this, according to Peter's instruction to be prepared to explain the faith I have within me. Thanks for your insights. Parable |
Bible Answer: Parable, This is a very complex set of questions. The bible has a lot to say about them in many different places. You asked: "What I do not understand, is HOW those sins were taken up by Him, " Jesus is the great sacrificial Lamb. Without the sheding of blood there is no remission of sins. Acts 10:43 To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins." Hebrews 9:22 And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. "HOW those sins were crucified with Him, " We are born again of the spirit. Flesh and blood of our natural selves shall not inherit the kingdom of heaven. Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Colossians 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: One thing that is very hard for us to understand is eternity. God uses an eternal Lamb to take away the sins of all that accept Him by faith for all time. Time is meaningless for His sacrifice. Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. "and HOW He was made sin in our place." Read all of Hebrews 9. Heb 11 13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them,[3] embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. 15And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them. Pastor Glenn |
