AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. |
Subject: What does it mean to be "in Christ?" |
Bible Note: Great observations - thank you. You wrote, "From a practical standpoint, how do we take off Christ? Is it that we become liars again? Thieves again? Is it that we stop being kind and tenderhearted and forgiving." Yes, I think that this happens, but somehow we think that if we don't lie cheat or steal, we are OK! Yet, the Lord looks at the heart, at our motivations. If those are not Christlike, and therefore God-hononring I suspect that we have "taken off Christ" albeit, not positionally, but as you identified, practically - we succumb to our fleshly nature that, until we get to glory, co-exists within us. (Romans 7,8) Well, those are my thoughts. May the Lord be honored even as we consider these things and seek to encourage one another to live for Christ! Blessings, mommapbs |
