AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 12:13 For in what respect were you treated as inferior to the rest of the churches, except [for the fact] that I did not burden you [with my financial support]? Forgive me [for doing you] this injustice! |
Bible Question: What was the "wrong?" Is Paul saying that as a minister of the Gospel it is wrong not to charge the local church to support his work among them? How does (should)this translate to the church today? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Mommapbs! Surely Paul clarifies his service to the Church... he is careful not to present to them an obstacle in coming to Christ... he himself searches for employment while tending the flock... and, rather than for himself, he asks for contribution to help other less furtunate Christians... Here Paul plays on words and actions: Not being a burden to them, he chose to wave the authority to claim the provisions due to Christ's ministers... this is the great "wrong" which he speaks of... his determination to freely offer Christ to them--no-strings-attached!
