Bible Question: What was the "wrong?" Is Paul saying that as a minister of the Gospel it is wrong not to charge the local church to support his work among them? How does (should)this translate to the church today? |
Bible Answer: mommapbs, Hello! I think that it may be the fact that Paul wasn't recieving money for preaching. Whereas the false apostles (11: 13-16) would always take money from the churches, which apparently is not characteristic of a true apostle. So I would be inclined to lean towards the fact that Paul was being sarcastic in that statement.? But I also would think that Paul was being specific here. He didn't say minister, only apostle. Secondly, the only way I see this translating into the church today, goes back to 11:12. Not giving someone something to boast about. Just guessing at this point!:) In Christ, steve |
