Bible Note: Notice in this verse soldiers were not condemned for being soldiers just instructed to be rigtheous in their conduct. Luke 3:14 Likewise the soldiers asked him, saying, "And what shall we do?" So he said to them, "Do not intimidate anyone or accuse falsely, and be content with your wages." Here again Jesus talks to the soldier and actually complements him. If being a soldier was wrong this would have been a perfect opportunity for Jesus to say find yourself another job. Luke 7:8 For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." Jesus also allowed his disciples to carry weapons. EdB |
