Bible Question: Why do so many Christians wrongly view death as a friend? |
Bible Answer: Dear flinty, Death is an enemy (1 Corinthians 15:26). However, we do not grieve as those without hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13). For the regenerate, death is something that yields multiple blessings (Philippians 1:24b): we enter into the presence of our Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8; Psalm 16:11); we leave striving in this life (Isaiah 57:1-2); we will achieve complete sanctification (1 John 3:2). "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints." (Psalms 116:15 ESV) Yes, it is an enemy, but in the hands of providence, all things bring God glory... and that is a marvelous and wonderful thing. In Him, Doc |
