Bible Question: so in other words it does not say you should not sleep with someone before your married, and I don't mean someone else's wife. |
Bible Answer: 12besaved- Yes, it does say you should not sleep with anyone before marriage! Sex before marriage is called fornication - not nice words like sleeping with someone. No where does it condone it, and everywhere you see it in the bible, you see how much the Lord hates it. In the old testament, people who committed fornication were stoned. God inteneded for for two people who loved each other to marry, live under the blessing of God in the way He intended it. Then sex is to be celebrated as a gift. The rules God set for us are for our own good. They will give you peace and joy and comfort. If you go against the guidelines of God for our lives, it will bring pain, unhappiness, even sickness and death (as we see with the AIDS epidemic - not that it is a judgement of God, but because people turn away from the "one man-one woman" guidelines, they have brought pain and sickness not only on themselves, but to others). Yes, a person can be saved and sin, as in sleeping with someone outside of marriage, but if they intentionally do that, knowing it is against what God wants for them, they are not only committing fornication, they are also rebelling against God. So we not only have one sin, but two. My question would be, if one really loves God and has given their hearts to Jesus, do they want to knowingly commit the same sin that got Satan cast out of Heaven? The key word is knowingly. If you are having the question, you now have the answer. You choose God, or choose to rebel against His authority. Choose God, He will not fail you and will give you strength. If it is a situation you are in, confess it as sin, and get out of it. Look up 1 Cor. 7:2; Acts 15:20; 1 Cor 6:13,18 |
