Bible Question:
Thank you pastor for your insights. However, I thought with the coming of Christ, Paul said that we are no longer ruled by law but by grace. And if I understand correctly, Grace is undeserved favour and if we believe in Lord, grace is FREE. No works required for they would be dead works. We only need to believe and have faith that God loves us, blessings instead of harms shall come to us. Galatians 3:10-14 All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”[c] 11Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, “The righteous will live by faith.”[d] 12The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, “The man who does these things will live by them.”[e] 13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”[f] 14He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. Roman 8:1-4 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,[a] 2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. 3For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature,[b] God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering.[c] And so he condemned sin in sinful man,[d] 4in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. Galatians 3:25 25Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law. I am confused here. If the people who died or suffered in tsunami tragedy are in their wicked ways, I would agree with the scriptures you have quoted. But I'm not sure the scriptures you have quoted will apply in this case. I can accept EdB's explanation but I'm afraid I can't agree with yours. Unless, I am wrong in my belief. |
Bible Answer: Hi, we are living in an age of grace, Jesus came and died for your sins so you could go to heaven. What's going on in the world (natural catastrophies ect..) is not God's doing. He didn't bring sin into the world, we did and seperated ourselves from Him. This is why He needed to send a Savior to deliver us from our sins. Because we obviously can't do it ourselves. The age of grace is a time in which we are given the opportunity to accept what Jesus did while He was here on the earth (lived a sinless life, dying on the cross and rising from the dead). Fulfilling the requirements of the law and making a way for us to get to heaven. We're dead in our sin without Him. (Rom 6:3) but if we receive Him (the gift from God) we can have eternal life. We're not saved by our works but they will follow those who believe (Eph 2). We're not saved by our works but without them our faith is dead (book of James). We need not be afraid if we're in Christ, He gives us the strength to endure. We live a sheltered life here in the United states many Christians are martyred each day in Africa and in many Middle east countries (Voice of the Martyres.com). So if the state of the world worries you, Jesus told us this would happen (Matt 24). Call out to Him and He will give you peace. He is our comforter and redeemer and if we are believers we need to let others know. |
