AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 3:25 whom God displayed publicly [before the eyes of the world] as a [life-giving] sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation (propitiation) by His blood [to be received] through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness [which demands punishment for sin], because in His forbearance [His deliberate restraint] He passed over the sins previously committed [before Jesus' crucifixion]. |
Bible Question (short): definition of "atonement" and "reconcili |
Question (full): I apologize in advance for my ignorance. I think this is basic knowledge but, I really don't have a full understanding. Could someone please give me a definition of what atonement means? Does it mean something like payment for our sins? Does reconciliation mean to be able to have a relationship with God, to be able to draw near to him? (2 questions) Thank you! |
