NASB | Romans 2:13 for it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 2:13 For it is not those who merely hear the Law [as it is read aloud] who are just or righteous before God, but it is those who [actually] obey the Law who will be justified [pronounced free of the guilt of sin and declared acceptable to Him]. |
Bible Question: what does it mean doers of the Law? Does one just have to do the law to be justified. This is probably impossible nowadays. Does this mean doers are saved or does this is for ones who live before Christ? |
Bible Answer: Oops, I did need to add that obviously when Jesus, who fulfilled the law lives the law through your crucified soul, The Father will see you as a "doer of the law". When you are in Christ all your sins are forgiven (past, present and future) as far as the east is from the west to be remembered no more. This is why Noah, Abraham, Paul, and Peter were declared righteous. I assure you they didn't keep the law perfectly and the truth is in their own strength they couldn't keep it at all as far as God is concerned. As you will read in Romans 3, "no one will be declared righteous by observing the law", but rather we are declared righteous by faith in Christ. Faith defined is Christ flowing through our crucified souls... Let me say this too, God telling us to "obey the law/be perfect" is like a parent setting his/her child up to fail with hopes that when they see they can't do what they were asked to do they will agree to do it the "right way". The "right way" in this case is again, letting Jesus, who fulfilled the law, to obey the law through your crucified soul. Simply put all God requires of us is for us to cooperate with the purpose for which we were created and that is for us to receive Him to live in and literally through us. Again, the purpose of the law is simply to reveal God's Holiness and our total depravity with hopes it will bring us to bow our knee and receive Him so that we can have life and it more abundantly in Him (has nothing to do with earthly prosperity, but rather treasure in New Jerusalem/Heaven...) Well, I got to get to bed...I hope this helps, again as the Lord leads, I will share more... |
