AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship. |
Subject: HELP ME PLEASE...I am not content! |
Bible Note: Greetings Cajam! I just posted to Justme that I belive that I owe you an apology. My post to Justme was not intended to be an attack on you, but an attempt at humor. However, I can see where you could preceive it as an attack on you. Therefore, I apologize my friend. The point I was trying to making with humor was simply this: The actual words and commands of Jesus take precedence. In Matt. 28:19, we are told that we should 'be baptizing' in the 'name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit'. Therefore, it can never be 'wrong' to use this phrase in baptism. Now, my opposition to your position is not your practice, but your position. I don't believe that the 'formula' matters all that much. I also note that Mt. 28:19 says the 'name' - singular. Since I believe in the Trinity, I can pray to the Father, or to the Son, or the Holy Spirit. It really doesn't matter because there is only One God. So, I have no problem with someone baptizing 'in the name of Jesus'. If that is what you choose, fine. I do have a problem though with someone saying that baptizing in the name of the 'Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit' is inappropriate or somehow defective. This position simply is Scriptural. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
