Bible Note: Dear Want2BChrist_Like, We all struggle with some form or other of sin. The question I have is are you relying on Christ alone for your salvation? Are you relying on yourself to change or on Jesus to change you? I got the impression that you are relying on yourself. Perhaps I'm wrong. The fact that you know that homosexuality is a sin is a good sign. Confess it God. Admit your powerlessness to change and ask the Lord to free you from your obsession. I have sins that have plagued me for years. I am daily asking for forgiveness of them. God has seen fit (so far at least) to allow these "thorns in my flesh" to remain. Nevertheless, when I look back at the man I was, I do see a lot changes in me. I'm not yet he man I want to be, but, thanks be to God, I'm not the man I used to be. The greater my desire to know Him, the closer I come to being like Him. Keep in mind that Jesus was tempted much as we are and worse. He is no stranger to the battle that you and I are facing. If you trust and believe in Jesus you are one of His flock. He will never leave you nor forsake you. He covers the "filthy rags" of our own attempts to be good with His own pure white robes. Does this mean that he will overlook our sins? No, not at all. Like the good Father He is, He will chastize those whom He loves. I pray that God will give you the grace to abstain from homosexual sin. It is as grievous a sin as adultery or promiscuity. Life is short, it only appears long to the young. You do not know when God will set you free from temptation, but, with the temptation He also provides an escape from fulfilling it. May God Bless you. It could not have been easy for you to admit your weakness. I trust that it was God working in you that brought you to seek help at this place and at this time. John Reformed |
