Subject: Is Salvation only through Jesus Christ? |
Bible Note: Johnny: You wrote: "Can you tell me that people belongs to Israel will go to hell because they dont believe in Jesus Christ?" Jesus said (to a Jew): "He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." --John 3:18 To another Jew, 'Jesus *said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."' --John 14:6 Paul explains: 'But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel; nor are they all children because they are Abraham's descendants, but: "THROUGH ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS WILL BE NAMED." That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants." Romans 9:6-8 Ishmael was a son of Abraham as well, but not a child of the promise. In the same manner, Esau was not a child of the promise, although he was a descendent of Abraham as well. Paul takes that further by saying that all who are descendents of Israel (Jacob) genetically are not the true spritual Israel of the promise. As Paul writes, "it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God." He goes on later in the chapter to show who are the children of the promise: "And He did so to make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory, even us, whom He also called, not from among Jews only, but also from among Gentiles." --Romans 9:23-24 The vessels of mercy include both Jews and Gentiles, but not ALL Jews or ALL Gentiles. Only those of both groups who embrace Christ will be saved. It is only they who are the spriitual children of Abraham: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants, heirs according to promise." --Galatians 3:28-29 Only one way to heaven for every human being. Paul shows in Romans 1-3 how both Jew and Gentile do not stand a chance without Christ. Christ is the fulfillment of the promise made to Abraham, and to reject Christ is to live outside of the promise. --Joe! |
