Subject: Tongues mean Holy Spirit? |
Bible Note: Thank you, Paul. I will look into some New Testament references like you suggested. In the past, studying like that helped me understand antoher topic - the one about women covering their heads (1 Corinthians 11). The one baptism (Eph. 6:5) happens at conversion and the water baptism signifies the believer's immersion into Christ and His death? I'm trying to understand because I have people at my church saying that speaking in tongues is the sign that one has received the Holy Spirit. I'm concerned because people accept Christ as Savior and are told that they have to 'tarry' for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Then they are told that if they don't speak in tongues, that they don't have the Holy Spirit. I just don't think this is true. Thanks, again, for your response and time in helping me study this topic. WTB |
