NASB | Acts 16:31 They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 16:31 And they answered, "Believe in the Lord Jesus [as your personal Savior and entrust yourself to Him] and you will be saved, you and your household [if they also believe]." |
Bible Question: if one member of the household is saved, is this a promise that the whole household will be saved also. |
Bible Answer: Greetings! Romans 14:12 reminds us the EACH of us must give an account before God. We can not rely upon the faith of others for our personal salvation. "And they answered, Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ [give yourself up to Him, take yourself out of your own keeping and entrust yourself into His keeping] and you will be saved, [and this applies both to] you and your household as well." Acts 16:13 Amplified version - the action is "to believe" and it applies to everyone - ALL those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved. It is a promise and also a choice that is available to everyone. Blessings, mommapbs |
