NASB | Acts 15:20 but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 15:20 but that we write to them that they are to abstain from anything that has been contaminated by [being offered to] idols and from sexual impurity and from [eating the meat of] what has been strangled and from [the consumption of] blood. |
Subject: Abstaining from things strangled, blood? |
Bible Note: So maybe it was given in the spirit of what Paul later wrote? The following as examples: 1Corinthians 10:25-33: v32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: Romans chapter 14 v14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. v21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. It comes down to promoting peace and harmony and not offending fellow believers? Am I thinking this through correctly? Stand in His grace, WOS |
