AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 11:26 and when he found him, he brought him back to Antioch. For an entire year they met [with others] in the church and instructed large numbers; and it was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians. [Acts 26:28; 1 Pet 4:16] |
Bible Question: The key word is they were (called) christrians, they never became christian, the people of antioch gave them this name not God are Jesus. Jesus never spoke the word christian, He never taught a single person to become a christian, are we truely following jesus by doing something that he never taught.Jesus said if you obey my teachings you truely my disciple and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.Should we follow jesus teachings are something that man made up. |
Bible Answer: I would have to disagree with your statement. It seems clear the prophecy below is predicting the very thing you're contesting. Is 62:2 The nations will see your righteousness, And all kings your glory; And you will be called by a new name Which the mouth of the LORD will designate. What other interpretation would you give this prophecy and its fulfillment in Acts 11? I don't think you're going to find very many on the Forum that will agree with you but we'll listen to what you got to say. Let me ask you one more question. How else would you maximize the Glory and Honor that our Lord deserves as evidenced by His Father throughout the NT? Seems a glorious thing for us as His children to literally have CHRISTian in our designated name. And surely, you've already heard about the "ian" for the phrase "I am nothing" without Christ. Perfect fit, wouldn't you agree? Blessings to you. Country Girl |
