NASB | John 5:18 For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 5:18 This made the Jews more determined than ever to kill Him, for not only was He breaking the Sabbath [from their viewpoint], but He was also calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God. |
Bible Question: I just returned from vacation and something puzzled me but I didn't want to ask them. My cousin is married to a Mormon and they (him and his father) said grace before meals and always ended the prayer "in Jesus Name we pray". I thought Jesus wasn't God pre se in their religion. I didn't want to start any contraversy then but does anybody know the answer, could they be Christian Mormons? Is this normal for Mormons? My cousin was raised Methodist, maybe this was a compromise. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Norrie, You should be refreshed :) I pray that you had a blessed time. I was just reading Matthew 7, let me quote from verses 21-23; "Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is is heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evil-doers! 1 John 4:1-6, is also a good reference. I am not familiar with any other religions :) They can pray over their food all they want in The Name of Jesus, but it will be meanningless if they don't know the Savior. Was this a compromise for your cousin? Or did your cousin compromise! Keep praying for your cousin situation, with God all things are possible. Once again, welcome back and God bless you |
