Bible Note: Lionstrong, First, let me be clear that I am not suggesting that you are not trusting Christ. So I'm going to proceed as if that is more of a universal question in scope, more along the lines of "how would one not be trusting Christ. This is the question which drives home the point, I hope. On the day in which we shall all stand before God to receive eternal rewards or eternal punishments, what is it that you are trusting is going to cause God to receive you favorably on that day? Now I readily grant that this is a fine line. If somebody truely understands the teachings of Christ rightly then the logical implication is to trust the substitionary work of Christ for our acceptance. But rest assured, every man who has hopes of heaven hopes for heaven based on some grounds. Whatever these grounds are is what the man is trusting in, or placing his faith in. That is the thing the man is "believing in" in terms of how the new testament speaks. But trusting and mentally assenting to these things ought to all go together. In Christ, Beja |
