Bible Note: With all due respect to my brother in the Lord Lionstrong I believe his view of believe is dispelled in James 2:19. Saving belief requires more than simple belief, as James said even the demon believe. If we read the passage in context James 2:17-20 (NKJV) 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? We see that Pisteuo belief requires more than mere acceptance of truth be must become dependent on that truth. If we aren't dependent on what we believe then we don't have Pisteuo belief. |
