Bible Question: Why did David choose five stones? |
Bible Answer: Hi Leinaala, Why did Paul choose five words? 1 Corinthians 14:19 says, "however, in the church I desire to speak five words with my mind, that I may instruct others also, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue." What great words David had to give to Saul. 1 Samuel 17:36, "Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, since he has taunted the armies of the living God.* And David said, "The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of the Philistine." What great words David said to the giant Philistine. 1 Samuel 17:45, "Then David said to the Philistine, 'You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted." Saul had said to David, "Go, and may the Lord be with you." 1 Samuel 17:37b. May the Lord be with us as we speak our five words, our words of spiritual power as they are given to us from God. May the unbeliever be convicted of his sin and "fall on his face and worship God, declaring that God is certainly among you." 1Corinthians 14:25 God was certainly with David for he said in 1Samuel 17:46, "This day the Lord will deliver you up into my hands, and I will strike you down and remove your head from you. And I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth will know that there is a God in Israel, and that all this assembly may know that the Lord does not deliver by sword or by spear; for the battle is the Lord's* and He will give you into our hands." |
