Bible Note: Hi Bows44, No, not necessary "for" savation, salvation has already taken place or it would be useless to be baptized in water. You would just go down a dry sinner and come up a wet sinner. Remember Johns baptism, was the baptism of "repentance" toward God, and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ. That's what has to happen to sinners, to become believers. After they become believers, then as Jesus said about his own baptism, "thus it behooves us to fulfil all righteousness." So water baptism, after salvation, is the fulfilled will of God and his righteousness in that area. Always in Christ, C.S.M. |
