Bible Note: Hi terrib, I can understand where you're coming from. Meditating on God's attributes is an often neglected thing- for all of us. ( We just completed this book on His attributes as an off-shoot to our study on Sound Doctrine!) If you haven't, get a copy of "The Attributes of God" by Pink. It's also available online at www.pbministers.org/books/pink/attributes. The point Pink makes- and I think very wisely said- is that "God is no gainer from our worship. (Neh. 9:5). He was in no need of that external glory of His grace which arises from his redeemed, for He is glorious enough in Himself without that." The hard thing for us to grasp is that "it is impossible to bring the Almighty under obligations to the creature; God gains nothing from us". (See Rom. 11:34-35) Job 35:7-8 says, "If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? Or what receiveth he of thy hand? Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; And thy righteousness may profit a son of man." Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
