Subject: The origin of God and His identity. |
Bible Note: Hi terrib, I think there are at least a couple points I can offer to consider. 1. Colossians 1:16 says "For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him." See also Psalm 148:2–5 and Neh. 9:6. I do not believe there is a specific time given. 2. Scripture does not directly tell us that God was alone before the world was created. I think Gen. 1:1 a fair starting point to ponder. However, it can be legitimately deduced because we know that God is eternal.(Ex. 3:14, John 8:58, Rev. 1:8) It is one of His attributes. God is outside of time. Because God has no beginning and no ending, He can know no change. He is everlastingly "the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning" (James 1:17. Col. 1:17 further tells us that, "...He is before all things, and in Him all things consist". If you have any other thoughts or comments, please let me know. BradK |
