Subject: What is the biblical def of apostle |
Bible Note: Yes, very good! I scanned through all these references. I noticed that Paul is not calling himself an apostle by his own authority. Instead God called him to the position (Romans 1:1, 1 Cor 1:1); God willed him to the position (1 Cor 1:1, 2 Cor 1:1, Eph 1:1, Col 1:1, 2 Tim 1:1, Titus 1:1); God validated him in the position (2 Cor 12:12); God sealed him in the position with evangelical fruit (1 Cor 9:1-2); Jesus and God authorized him in the position (Gal 1:1, 1 Tim 2:7, 2 Tim 1:11); God and Jesus commanded him to the postion (1 Tim 1:1). Paul called himself the least of the apostles, because he had persecuted the church (1 Cor 15:9). Thank you for drawing our attention to this, James210! |
