Bible Question:
Is there really any "peace on earth?" So often I hear these words at Christmastime, but how does this verse compare to what Jesus said about His coming in Matthew 10:34 (Luke 12:51),"Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword." ? How might the world confuse the peace that God offers? Is this peace conditional? ("among men with who He is pleased")I believe there is much to think about in this familiar verse that transcends the "Christmas Story." What are your thoughts? |
Bible Answer: Mommapbs: My thought is that any other peace other than the peace that God offers to us through Jesus is a false peace. Truely when you know this peace that we are aquanted with and others reject it, the sword(word of God)divides. I really don't think that the world outside of the heavenly world that is promised to us, could possibly understand what it means to have a hope and a promise of the future we share. That's where the worlds confusion about peace lies. Just my thought. KJV Philippians 4:7 7. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. ASV Philippians 4:7 7. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. God Bless |
