Bible Question:
Is there really any "peace on earth?" So often I hear these words at Christmastime, but how does this verse compare to what Jesus said about His coming in Matthew 10:34 (Luke 12:51),"Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword." ? How might the world confuse the peace that God offers? Is this peace conditional? ("among men with who He is pleased")I believe there is much to think about in this familiar verse that transcends the "Christmas Story." What are your thoughts? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Mommapbs, Yes, Christ the King will bring peace! But we will have to wait until after His Second Coming for complete peace in this dark, dismal world. But He will provide it! "It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and it shall be lifted up above the hills; and peoples shall flow to it, and many nations shall come, and say: "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths." For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. He shall judge between many peoples, and shall decide for strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore;" Micah 4:1-3 You know, most people believe that Christ's coming is a long ways off! But really, Christ's coming to us is as close as our own physical deaths. When we die, we shall meet Christ, saved or unsaved. Blessings to you, Makarios |
