Bible Question:
In considering Romans 5:5, in my personal copy I have penciled in a lower case "holy spirit". I do this because I think of the holy spirit as the gift of God which is given to us. I compare the verse with Acts 11:16, "And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, 'John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the *holy *spirit'. 17 If God therefore gave to them the same gift as He gave to us..." I would like some comments from the forum members as I continue to consider the gift of "holy spirit". From the heart, Ray |
Bible Answer: Hi, Ray! I believe so! I take my cue from Jesus Who tells us that the Holy Spirit is in the world, with the Believers and in the Believers... He further clarifies that the world cannot see Him for they do not believe!: I shall ask the Father, and he will give you another Paraclete to be with you forever, the Spirit of truth whom the world can never accept since it neither sees nor knows him; but you know him, because he is with you, he is in you. (John 14:16-17) This passage I combine with John 1:10-12 where a distiction is made between those who do not believe in Jesus and are granted nothing and those who believe in Jesus and are given the right to become sons (children) of God! 1 Corinthians 6:9 is another powerful Scripture that tells us that not only are we the temple of the Holy Ghost, but that He is in us and that He was given to us by God! I could go on... but I think these passages say it all! God Bless! Angel |
