Bible Note: Hi Mitch, First off, I would say, you tell me what it is all about! Second, what does the context of the entire Book of Acts, chapter 2 and then the verse deal with? You have to interpret this specific passage in light of the whole book (of Acts) and then in light of the rest of the revelation of scripture. Does your conclusion stand given the entirety of the Bible? Mitch, I'll offer this observation: You are making what is stated in Acts- particluarly chapter 2- doctrine for the entire Body of Christ. There is no support for that view in my estimation. Certainly not within Orthodoxy and then historically! The Church as a whole has not held this view. You really should consider that?! This is a very recent, i.e. 20th Century WOF invention! We'll have to simply part ways and disagree on this agreeably, brother. For what it's worth, I think we'd both be better served if we stuck to: 1. Areas of agreement in light of Romans 14:1; 2. Focus on Love as the greater of these things (1 Cor. 13:13). Hopefully we can both agree that Jesus is Lord and that His Word is inspired and that we are saved by grace through faith:-) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
