Bible Question:
What is to ask and receive the Holy Spirit? Does that happen only once or many times in different dosages? (to those who ask and continue to ask Him!) Thank you, Finder |
Bible Answer: Dear Finder, The Holy Spirit is given to those who are saved (1 Corinthians 2:12). The Spirit works in the life of the believer to create in him the image of Christ, a process that will be fully accomplished only in glory. If you study Ephesians, particularly chapter 4, you will see that there is both a passive and an active aspect to walking in the Holy Spirit. We are to put off the things of the flesh and put on the new man. When we grieve the Holy Spirit it doesn't mean we frustrate or thwart His purpose. No, God is Sovereign. However, we are called to align ourselves with the work of the Holy Spirit, actively seeking to cooperate with what He is doing and accomplishing. I hope that helps a bit. In Him, Doc |
