Subject: Blasphemy against Holy Spirit |
Bible Note: Hi Norrie, You have compared Heb 6 and Matthew 12 and describe them as a perfect fit. I would not say that it is a perfect fit, but certainly a comparison that shows contrast. Here are the verses that I would match up in a contrast. Hebrew 6:5, NASB, "and have tasted the good word of **God and the powers of the age to come,..." Matthew 12:36, NASB, "And **I say to you, that every careless [Or, useless] word that men shall speak, they shall render account for it in the day of judgment." Here we have the good, holy word of God contrasted with the careless, useless word of a blasphemer. 1) The Pharisees said in their thoughts that this fellow, this man, cast out demons only by Beelzebul the ruler of the demons. They said that "He has an unclean spirit." That is a careless, useless word to say. It is a falsehood. Here we have the contrast between an unclean spirit and a holy spirit. The Pharisee said that He has an unclean spirit. Mark 3:30, "because they were saying, "**He has an unclean spirit." Matthew 12:36, "And **I say to you, that every careless word that men shall speak, they shall render account for it in the day of judgment." 2) Jesus cast out demons by the finger (or spirit) of God. Matthew 12:28 and Luke 11:20. Matthew 12:30, "Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven." From the heart, Ray 2) |
