AMPLIFIED 2015 | Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard this, He said to them, "Those who are healthy have no need of a physician, but [only] those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners [who recognize their sin and humbly seek forgiveness]." |
Bible Question: Need info. on the 2nd chapter in Mark on Jesus calls sinners |
Bible Answer: Jesus is the doctor of souls as well as the body. His statement : "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I came to call not the righteous, but sinners" is almost an expalnation of the healing of the paralytic which just been narrated at the beginning of Mark 2. The question we have to ask ourselves is: are we Pharisees or are we sinners and spiritual cripples? And who in the end is better off? While considering our answer we would do well to consider the parable of the Pharisee and the Publican in Luke 18:9-14. Emmaus |
