Bible Question:
(4.5) Yeah, I have been doing some catching up (via the search module) I just read the cpiening77 post and your response was appropriate, but I wanted a little elaboration on the issue of time and place, breadth and width of the word as it has been and will continue to be interpreted. 1-What do you mean when you say "take the Bible literall unless it says otherwise" in regards to the act of being bitten by a poisonous viper and not being harmed? I believe that word in ink, so it would bring too many other miracles of faith (in ink) into question if I took but, one out of context. (If I sound stern, or overbearing, please forgive me. In another life I used the excuse of being a Scorpio, now I know it's just my conviction and not a burden of birth.) I have no doubt of the allegorical representations contained in the Bible, but I strongly believe that faith is the binding principal concerning the integrity of the scriptures. In short, these miracles are fueled by it, so when I read the implication of "symbolism" compromising the obvious sign of Paul's Apostleship I found myself needing more information on where you gathered this conclusion. zoe |
Bible Answer: Hello Zoe, I am having a bit of a problem with a portion of your post namely the following. You suggest: “I have no doubt of the allegorical representations contained in the Bible, but I strongly believe that faith is the binding principal concerning the integrity of the scriptures.” Man’s faith in scripture has nothing to do with the integrity of God’s Word. The integrity is in place because of the fact that ALL scripture is God inspired. The writing of God’s Word is truth not because anyone has faith in it. Whether one believes it or not doesn’t change a thing with God’s written word; He is Sovereign and what He says is truth, i.e. The Bible. 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: CDBJ |
