Bible Question:
New Creature, Very well said. How about this verse that you posted? 1 Cor. 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. It appears to refer to "THOSE INSIDE". Does that mean that it is OK to eat with this person AFTER he is excommunicated? Also, do we treat this person differently than those sinners that have not called themselves "Christian"? God Bless, Pastor Glenn |
Bible Answer: Greetings Pastor Glenn, Here is a bit of background on the context of 1 Corinthians 5:11.. "I Corinthians 5:11 No,not to eat. By thus refusing all intercourse with him, they were to show the world that they utterly, disavowed and reprobated his doings. In those times, there Was no other mode by which so distinct and effectual a disavowal could be made." [Taken from Abbott's Illustrated New Testament Commentary] Blessings to you, Makarios |
