Bible Note: To add to my last post, Perhaps its best to note that when a person, such as the Brother who rebuked you for picking up the children, were just thinking within their own capacity, having the best of intentions, but still making what would otherwise turn out to be a "wrong decision." We as humans only have a limited sense of spiritual reality, we look at the world with "tunnel vision." Therefore, we cannot always see what is coming to the right or to the left of us, and we must rely on the Holy Spirit to help guide us in life. Scripture is clear that one of the functions of the Holy Spirit is to illumine the minds of Christians so that they can understand Scripture (1 Cor. 2:13,14). In other words, the Holy Spirit is like a radio station that is transmitting a perfect signal. Even though that radio signal is transmitted perfectly, there are all kinds of different quality radio receivers out there. Some have good reception, some not so good. Some have a good antenna, others may need a little adjustment. Different radio receivers have varying degrees of success in receiving that perfect signal.. Christians are much like that.. The Holy Spirit's "illumination" is always perfect. But because of various circumstances (sin, not fulling walking in Him, preoccupied, concerned about worldly affairs, perhaps blinded by Satan), Christians have varying degrees of success in catching that perfect signal from the Holy Spirit... We as humans have "tunnel vision," and we need at times need help in knowing what actions to choose or what to pray for so that we can fulfill God's ultimate purpose for our lives and for His church. We can attempt to make the best decision that we possibly can, based on our own limited foresight. But it is always God that we need to rely upon to give us the best "advice" and leading in every situation. Don't get me wrong, the Lord can use individuals as well, and speak through them to reach us. In fact, He could even use one of His angels to reach us (Heb. 13:2). But, at the same time, we must prayerfully make each and every decision. And prayer is what will keep us on track with God so that we can continue to make every "right" decision that is in perfect accord of His will for us (Ephesians 6:18).
