Bible Note: Greetings my friend! No, your reputation is intact! But I was a bit curious, since we don't have too many people ask if we have had encounters with people who might have possibly have been 'sent to us by Satan.' But I see what you mean. :-) The situations that you have described with the woman and with the brother in Christ which ended in the death of a church are grevious indeed, and the enemy was at work! I most certainly agree with your assessment of Acts 5 and Ananias and Sapphira, but I wanted to be sure of where you were coming from first. :-) John 8:44, Jude and 2 Peter are filled with references to those who are false teachers, which gives us all the more incentive to act as a Berean (Acts 17:11) to make sure that the message that we receive is from the Lord. I also agree that Satan is very active in this world, and we must be ready for his onslaught, being girded with the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:13-18). Yes, I have had many encounters in my life in which I do believe that I was actually facing down Satan himself, or possibly one being sent by him. I have attempted to witness to those who claim to be Satanists, a self-proclaimed witch, and others who most desperately need the saving grace of our Lord. I have also been put in a position where I was tempted by another man's wife, and the Lord protected me from sin in much the same way that He protected Joseph (Genesis 39:11-13). It was definitely Satan that was at work! But in every instance, these happenings occurred with those who did not believe in Christ. The Bible doesn't really say whether or not Ananias and Sapphira were 'true believers' in Christ. I do not believe that it is possible for a believer in Christ to be demon-possessed, or "sent by Satan." Blessings to you, Makarios |
