Bible Note: Hi, AO! I will not venture into denominational discourse... rather I would have you examine Scripture: Did Christ establish His Church to last 50 to 100 years (the expected life span of the youngest of the Thirteen)? Did Christ/Holy Spirit give some to be apostles only for the finite time of that limited existence of the Church (50 to 100 years)? Does Scripture not tells us that till John the Baptist were the Law and the prophets, and does Paul not tell us that there is an order in the Church (which John happened not to be a participant since he was decapitated by the order of Herodias--through her daughter) of which the first are the apostles, then the prophets...? We can rationalize and interprete Scripture as we please... but Scripture, though at times seeming to contradict itself, will always offer a more complete doctrine than many choose to accept! I can only offer you Scripture... you be the final judge: a) if the Church ceased to exist for over 15 hundred years only to be reinvented by the twentieth century's "truly spiritual theologians", b) if there is a perennial existence of the Church as Jesus foretold or if new agers ("today's Christians) determine for the Holy Spirit what the Church of Christ is, c) if the Holy Spirit has no power to "send" or institute apostles to lead the Church or if the Holy Spirit took a 15 hundred year sabbatical to rethink the structure of the Church! I like to clarify to you that I do not seek to take liberties fueled by intellect (having organized crime syndicate "send" someone to take care of "business" does not make that person an apostle! Nor does paying a fee to an organization makes a person a representative of Christ!)... my offer is what Scriture offers: Christ established a perennial Church, one that even Satan cannot destroy, and, through the Holy Spirit, He established the Body with all its members, including the Apostles and prophets... Finally it is the option of every human being to accept the Body of Christ as He established it or to redefine it--after all there are over 20k Christian denominations world-wide! God Bless!
