Bible Note: "The twelve names of the twelve apostles" Hi, Kalos! Thank you for your assistance... it seems that most people reject anything Scripture offers if there isn't a concensus of "experts"... I mean, they even reject Scripture or singularize one particular verse excluding all others or attempt to place all other Scriptural passages into a mold that supports their "choice" interpretation... Clearly Paul was not lying when he called himself the "least of the apostles!" Yet, this self-critique does not negate the fact that Paul was an apostle! The disciples were given full authority by Christ to establish and maintain His Body, so it is not surprising that the apostles would call the believers "saints" or that they would speak of the "apostles" to include more than the original Eleven and the substitue for Judas (Acts 1:16-26)... Also to deny that the Holy Spirit has the Authority to "send" or call others to the office of apostleship would be to deny that He is God and that it is He whom Jesus promised that would come and reveal all truth! (John 14:16-17, 26; 15:26; 16:7-15; Acts 5:3-4) It is true, Scripture some times appears to be contradicting itself... but as Paul notes: "now we only know partially... then we will know as we are known!" (1 Corinthians 13:9-10, 12) God Bless! Angel |
