Bible Question: where is their in the bible that ays it is ok for woman to preach, or is their any woman preachers in the bible . i know their is woman teachers ,and didnt jesus speak to mary magdalon and tell her to go tell his dicipals jesus has risen. |
Bible Answer: That one is a little tougher. Most of the translations of the Scripture that have been done use "men" universally. The pronouns in the original manuscript may have been masculine, feminine, or neuter, but weren't necessarily translated that way. Most of the time when the Scriptures talk of matters of the Church it speaks of both men and women using one pronoun. So when Paul says that were set in the church Apostles, Profits, Evangelist, Pastor, and Teachers, it could mean either men or women. There are verses that on the surface or if taken out of context, could have Paul forbidding women to teach, preach or otherwise have a gift ministry, and since those seem to contradict what he spoke when he told about the gift ministries, those verses must be looked at in greater depth. |
