Bible Note: Good Morning Pastor Glenn Just this morning I was thinking about the Canaanite woman and the fact that she did not have a covenant relationship with God as the Jews had. She was indeed an 'outsider'. Naaman is definitely a good example of an outsider receiving from Jehovah Rapha. I believed that he believed the report of the little maid from Isreal: And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy. 2 Kings 5:3 I believe that Naaman and the Canaanite woman, outsiders, were able to receive what they desired because they believed/had faith. The following shows some ‘insiders’ who did not receive from the Lord because of their unbelief: And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. Matt 13:54-58 And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him. And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching. Luke 6:1-6 I agree that it’s sad when an outsider seems to trust our Father more than we do. My prayer is that we, the children of the Most High God: 1. will be as bold as lions Prov 28:1 2. will come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Heb 4:16 3. will not be guilty of having an evil heart of unbelief Heb 3:12 4. will mix the word with faith so that it may profit us Heb 4:2 5. and finally, may we believe so that we can enter into the rest of God Heb 4:3 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you Meredith |
