Bible Note: Good Morning Pastor Glenn When you pointed out the fact that Peter took his eyes off Jesus I thought of this passage of scripture: My son, attend to my words; incline your ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Put away from you a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from you. Let your eyes look right on, and let your eyelids look straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove your foot from evil. Prov 4:20-27 A heart of unbelief is referred to as evil in Heb 3:12. What I get out of this is: As long as I attend to God's Word and incline my ear to his sayings, faith will come (faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Rom 10:17). I also see that while 'in the boat', it may be easier to trust and stay focused on the Word (Jesus), but once I step in the mist of the ‘boisterous wind’, I REALLY need to be steadfast in attending to, inclining my ear to and looking right on at the Word (Jesus), so that I won’t be ‘O thou of little faith’ but will be more like the woman of Canaan who had great faith: And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. Matt 15: 22-28 Meredith |
